What We Do

NSDO

We are a Kenyan non-profit organization committed to building prosperous, resilient and self-determining communities.

We exist to work alongside people — not on their behalf — to create the conditions for lasting human development: stronger livelihoods, healthier families, better-educated children, empowered young people, cleaner environments and governments that genuinely serve their citizens.

Agriculture and Food Systems

Food security and sustainable livelihoods for Kenya’s smallholder farmers depend on access to knowledge, markets and technology.

Environment and Climate Action

NSDO builds community capacity to protect natural resources, adapt to climate change and advocate for policies that reflect their lived experience.

Education and Skills Development

NSDO works to ensure children stay in school, that learning quality improves and that communities are active, empowered participants in education governance

Governance and Civic Accountability

NSDO invests in civic education, public participation and social accountability — not as abstract concepts, but as practical tools communities can use to demand better services, better governance and better futures.

Youth Empowerment and Enterprise

NSDO invests in young people through structured skills programmes, enterprise incubation and mentorship.

Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment

Our livelihoods work builds the economic foundations for lasting household security.

Health and Public Health Systems

Our Health pillar draws on our deepest institutional expertise — combining community health outreach, disease prevention, maternal and child care, digital health and policy advocacy into a comprehensive, integrated health programme that reaches the most underserved.
